Dr Nicky Keay and Dr Carla Meijen will share insights from their recently published books ‘Hormones, Health and Human Potential’ and ‘Empowered birth: Lessons from Sport Psychology for your maternity journey’, in this webinar hosted by Dr Josie Perry, author of a number of sport and performance psychology books. The session will help you to gain an insight into the factors that are important to consider, and some practical take-home messages that will be beneficial not only to those on their maternity journey, but also those around them including their birth partner, health professionals, and educators.
Carla will explain how sport psychology principles can be applied to the pregnancy, birth, and post-partum experience. You will learn what approaching the maternity journey as a positive challenge could look like, by drawing on and adding to what you already have in your mental skills toolbox, potentially without even knowing it. In the webinar Carla will give an insight to some of the psychological strategies that are covered in her book.
On the maternity journey it is important to consider hormonal changes, starting from preconception, during pregnancy, childbirth, post-partum and the post-natal period.
