Research

Research plays an important role in my sport psychology practice. My research focused on two main areas:

  1. Challenge and threat states. Feeling pressure before an important competition is common. How can you see this pressure as something that’s positive and as a challenge, not a a threat? Understanding how athletes can move from a threat to a challenge underpins a lot of my practice.

  2. Endurance performance. I am fascinated by the mental demands of endurance performance. The motivation to keep going and putting in the training hours, how to pace yourself, the willingness to endure pain, and the time to think are all parts of endurance performance that I love working with.
